Phofung river frog
Amietia hymenopus · Drakensberg river frog
A stream frog found only on the high slopes and plateau of the Drakensberg and Lesotho highlands, at about 1,800–3,000 m. Adults bask on rocks by the water and lay their eggs in flowing streams or shallow side pools. Drying streams, hard freezes and the amphibian chytrid fungus can all kill tadpoles.
