Everlastings
Helichrysum spp. · Sewejaartjies
The Drakensberg has dozens of Helichrysum species — over fifty have been photographed in the park — from tall slope shrubs to low silver cushions on the summit. Their papery flowerheads keep their shape long after flowering, which earned them the name everlastings. On the high peaks Helichrysum trilineatum is one of the dominant shrubs.
