Dierama spp. · Wand flowers, Grasklokkies
Dierama send up long, wiry stems that bend under clusters of pink, mauve or white bells, swaying in the slightest wind. KwaZulu-Natal is the centre of diversity for the genus, with about 26 species. The one you’re most likely to meet is the Drakensberg hairbell (D. dracomontanum), with rose-pink to coral flowers, which sometimes dominates whole mountain slopes.
